Myths, Misconceptions, and FACTS

GyroStim is innovative; it is unprecedented in its approach to therapy, rehabilitation, and human performance. It challenges and is changing the status quo and opens the door to many new opportunities that were simply not possible in the past.

As a result, there are a number of myths, misconceptions, and misunderstandings about it---and it’s important to set the record straight about a few things:

MYTH: "That thing would make me sick."
FACT: Actually, just the opposite is more likely to be true. Challenging your vestibular system is often recommended as an effective way to reduce sensitivity to motion. GyroStim provides a gentle progression of controlled and precise motion profiles that help you train your system to overcome motion sensitivity.

MYTH: "I can't do roller coasters or carnival rides, so how could I possibly do that?"
FACT: Unlike carnival rides and roller coasters that blast you with full speed right away, GyroStim training gradually increases motion intensity over time, and at a pace that is comfortable for you.

MYTH: "How could something like that help with my balance problem?
FACT: Vestibular stimulation (motion therapy) has been used for decades to help with balance problems, reduce motion sickness, and for a variety of other purposes. The big difference is, GyroStim does it better by adding comfort, safety, power, and control to vestibular stimulation in a way that was never before possible.

MYTH: "I'd have to go upside down? There's no way I can go upside down!"
FACT: GyroStim training begins with slow and easy motion profiles THAT DO NOT INVERT and offers many challenging profiles that do not go upside down.

MYTH: "No thanks. It looks like it goes way TOO FAST for me."
FACT: Even though you may see videos on this website and the internet of people moving very fast in GyroStim, it can also go extremely SLOW, as demonstrated on our video page. People going fast in any of the videos you've seen online or in social media started their training with very slow motion profiles and worked up to the faster profiles over a period of time.

MYTH: "No thanks. It looks like it goes way TOO SLOW for me."
FACT: Even though you may see videos on this website and the internet of people moving very slowly (and not inverting) in GyroStim, it can also go extremely FAST, as demonstrated on our video page. People going slow in any of the videos you've seen online or in social media are either just starting their training, or are addressing a specific rehabilitation goal.

GyroStim training is based on an incremental progression strategy that helps recalibrate the balance system --- naturally.

GyroStim training begins with very easy, slow, motion profiles that DO NOT GO UPSIDE DOWN.

The video below illustrates the incremental progression strategy from Level 1, to Level 3, to Level 5. Levels go up to 30.

The individualized training sessions present you with exercises that increase gradually and at a rate that continually challenges your abilities.

As your abilities and tolerance for motion continue to increase, you’ll be presented with slightly higher levels of intensity, which further challenges and improves your balance system and abilities.

This interactive training improves reaction time and increases tolerance to motions and activities that may have once triggered symptoms.

GyroStim has helped thousands of people from all walks of life regain lost function and improve their quality of life.
